Despite the unprecedented market conditions the COVID-19 health pandemic has created, Australia’s passion for property continues to be strong. Recent months have seen experience record audience numbers and surges in buyer enquiries.

The level of property searches in the Buy channel decreased by -3%1 last week, driven by a large fall in Victoria (-13.3%1) as Stage 4 restrictions were imposed in Melbourne. Despite this, nationally search activity for properties for sale is still 29%up on the same time in 2019.

Again, impacted by the situation in Melbourne, national rental search volumes decreased by -2.8%1 this week, led by a -16.9% drop in Victoria – the largest drop in 2020. Nationally, searches for properties listed for rent are currently 8.9%2 higher than this time last year.
