Following the success of the shorebird mural on the Esplanade at Golden Beach earlier this year, the Sunshine Coast Regional Council has commissioned Caloundra artist Steven Bordonaro to create another mural on the public amenities block at Bells Creek.

The striking mural at Golden Beach and soon to be Bells Creek is part of council’s plan to raise awareness about why we need to share our Sunshine Coast shorelines with resident and migratory shorebirds.

Steven paints the murals as a way to spread the word on the importance of protecting these birds.

The murals are commissioned by Sunshine Coast Council and funded through the Environment Levy. The levy is funded by ratepayers and supports the delivery of a range of environmental projects and initiatives that are carried out by both council and the community.

The new mural at Bells Creek will feature shorebirds as well as iconic waterbirds regularly observed at that location. Work was scheduled to start on Wednesday 13th or Thursday 14th October.
